Indranil Sen TMC workers reclaim party office at Chandannagar
Kolkata: Trinamool Congress workers under the leadership of Indranil Sen, local MLA and Minister of State for Information and Cultural Affairs, took possession of the party office which was forcibly taken over by the BJP at Chandannagar.Sen, along with TMC leaders and workers, went to the party office situated in Ward 6 and put up the party flags. The leaders chanted “Jal Hind” and “Jai Bangla” slogans and put up the party flags on Saturday morning. In Cooch Behar, a Trinamool Congress party worker was beaten up after he refused to say “Jai Sri Ram”. Meanwhile, trouble broke out at Kanchrapara in North 24-Parganas following a scuffle between the police and BJP workers after the former tried to chase away those who had gathered outside the Trinamool Congress office when a meeting of the Also Read – Lightning kills 8, injures 16 in stateparty was going on. Trinamool leaders including Jyotipriya Mallick, state Minister for Food and North 24-Parganas of the party, Sujit Bose, Minister of State for Fire and Emergency Services (Independent charge) and Madan Mitra were holding a meeting to analyse the post-poll scenario in North 24-Parganas with the local leaders. When the meeting was on, some BJP supporters gathered outside the party office and shouted ‘Jai Sri Ram’ slogan. They tried to provoke Trinamool supporters who were present outside the office. Mallick said the BJP leaders were trying to provoke Trinamool Congress workers in the entire North 24-Parganas. It may be recalled that Mamata Banerjee had alleged that by showing trouble on the television, BJP would try to bring in President’s Rule in Bengal.
