Aussies likely to travel more by 2050 survey

first_imgAustralians will be flying 70 per cent more often by 2050, according to the opinions of more than three-quarters of participants in an Airbus study. Disregarding the current moves toward more budget-friendly air travel, respondents predicted that passengers would also be flying in more comfortable and more private cabins, the Australian reported. The Airbus survey has also revealed that travellers want full in-flight internet access, including the ability to use personal MP3 players and to download on-line entertainment. The main motivation for travelling for those aged between 16 and 24 years of age was to see the world, while 24 to 35-year-olds emphasised greater work/life flexibility. According to the newspaper, 35 to 44-year-olds cited as their primary motivation the need to keep in touch with increasingly distant family and friends.  More than 1,000 people took part in the surveys, which are being used by engineers to help guide future Airbus aircraft designs.
