IPL 4: Top players face auction axe
With IPL 4 just a few months away, team managements are gearing up for the players’ auction. The first step for them is to secure the marquee players and keep them off the auction list. While some stars have been retained, many big guns are missing the bus. Among those whose fate hangs in the balance are Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble (Bangalore Royal Challengers), Sourav Ganguly (Kolkata Knight Riders), Yuvraj Singh (Kings XI Punjab) and Gautam Gambhir (Delhi Daredevils). But the team-owners have retained some of their top players. Like the Mumbai Indians have stuck to Sachin Tendulkar, Kieron Pollard and Harbhajan Singh. The Chennai Super Kings will continue with the services of M.S. Dhoni, Suresh Raina, M. Vijay and Albie Morkel. The Royal Challengers haven’t retained many players. Virat Kohli is one exception. The Rajasthan Royals have retained Shane Warne and Shane Watson. For the Delhi Daredevils, Virender Sehwag will continue to play in IPL 4. But the team is undecided on Gambhir.Chris Gayle appears to have kept his place in the Kolkata Knight Riders.
